IZUJU SUSHI : Kyoto-style Sushi for Ages

In Kyoto, we searched a restaurant that is recommended by Ladyironchef, Izuju Sushi. It is known as Kyoto-style sushi. Can you believe that this place has been opened for more than 100 years ! The specialty of this restaurant is the Inari Sushi. You can find this restaurant on the corner of big crossing near Yasaka shrine, at Gion area.

The view from the restaurant

For waiting list, they give us the paper with brush and ink. I found it very interesting. As we arrived, approximately we waited about half an hour.

The place is not really big, there are around 12 tables inside. They still keep the traditional ambience inside the restaurant. There are some artworks hung on the wall.

For the Inari sushi, I could felt the authenticity on the dish. The rice was very sweet and had a unique taste. That 'unique' taste can be found in most of the sushi. It cannot be found in other place. I believe they keep the tradition from the older generation from its method of cooking until the recipes. They present the sushi with what they call as Kyoto-style. Oh, fyi here is no soy sauce here!
